Selection Corner – Week 6 NFL Picks

We’re in to the second quarter of the NFL season and our head is above water – no easy feat when you’re trying to gauge new teams, systems and players. But at a certain point I have to deliver and it starts now. I was 2-2 last week and am still over .500 on the season. So not a disaster by any means. But I feel like Week 6 is where Selection Corner will kick it into high gear.

2017 Week 6 NFL Picks

Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints (-4.5)

I know, I’ve gotten burnt with the Lions lately. But it’s not like they’re losing in blowouts. The Lions are taking on tough competition and competing until the final minute. Meanwhile, the Saints have surprisingly been decent on defense the last couple of weeks, as they too are at .500 on the year. Still, it’s hard to bet on that defense being good against even a banged up Matt Stafford. I like the points here. Take Detroit.

San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins (-9.5)

The Niners have lost virtually every game this year by one possession, so why would this game be any different? Kyle Shanahan’s team is scrappy and without quit. Meanwhile, D.C. has been inconsistent. As Kirk Cousins goes, so does the offense. With Shanahan being Kirk’s former offensive coordinator, I think he’ll have his team in it all game. Give me the points and San Fran.

Los Angeles Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars (-2.5)

They can win in London, they can win in Pittsburgh, but they don’t really play all that well at home. We have been riding the wave of inconsistency of the Jags all season, so why stop now? Here’s where they lay an egg and where the Rams shake off a tough loss last week. I love this game and the Rams with the points.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City (-4.5)

The Chiefs are for real. I learned that by going against them last week. They are on a mission to finally go deep in the playoffs. The Steelers are not properly protecting Big Ben and continue to turn the ball over. There’s nothing about this matchup or the spread that would make me take the visiting team in Arrowhead Stadium. Give me K.C.

Last Week: 2-2
Season: 11-9
