Top 5 TV play-by-play announcers

While everyone loves a good matchup on television, it’s always made better when a little extra excitement is brought to the proceedings. That’s why some of the elite broadcasters make a ton of money. They can make great moments into legendary must-see moments. I’ve put together my list of the top guys on television across several sports. Let me know what you think.

Top 5 TV Play-by-Play Announcers

5. Mike ‘Doc’ Emerick

This longtime NHL play-by-play man can hit the high notes, but also has a flair for the dramatic. In an era where hockey struggles for ratings in the U.S., Emrick certainly does his part.

4. Gus Johnson

Gus has moved around a lot in recent years, but you can see him on NBA Bucks games and some college sports. Johnson has also racked up some famous NFL calls in his day. Remember this one?

3. Dan Shulman

This smooth baseball broadcaster has been at it a long time. He works on both sides of the border calling America’s Pastime and has captured some of its most iconic moments.

2. Marv Albert

The man could call out attendance in a preschool class and he’d make it entertaining. When a broadcaster crosses into pop culture with a catch phrase he’s done something right. Yes!

1. Kevin Harlan

I am in awe of his talent. Harlan’s mind is so quick that he can keep up with any sports play, no matter how fast paced. He does NFL and NBA, both on TV and radio, and he does it like a maestro.
