NCAA Top 25 College Football Week 4 Recap

Our top 25 college football week 4 recap shows that the best bets were on the favorites this week, at least in the top 10 against the spread, except for Washington. All top 10 teams covered. Also two teams are out of the top 25 college football rankings as we move to week 5. The top 7 teams remain unchanged in the poll for week 5.

Top 25 College Football Week 4 Results

#1 Alabama vs Kent State 48-0

As a 44 point favorite Bama came and delivered. We visualize that the only tough games in their schedule left are on October 8 vs Arkansas and October 22nd vs A&M. Maybe on the 15th against Tennessee. Otherwise the Crimson Tide will go unbeaten for the season. This said, betting wise, this is the first time Alabama covers the spread since their first game against USC.

#2 Ohio State idle

#3 Louisville vs Marshall 59-28

The Cardinals were a 30 point favorite, Louisville barely covered the spread over Marshall Thundering Herd. Louisville will have to play #5 Clemson next week, on a game where the stakes are really high. One will stay and the other one will probably be kicked out of the top 10. Then on November they will face #6 Houston.

#4 Michigan vs Penn State 49-10

Michigan showed that the -17 point spread difference was low as they covered the spread easily. The Wolverines schedule shows them playing #8 Wisconsin on Otober 1st and they close against #2 Ohio State in their last game. As in the case of Louisville, Michigan and Wisconsing will battle for the top 10 spot this coming weekend.

#5 Clemson vs Georgia Tech 26-7

Not that great a game by Clemson. Yes they were on the road. Yes they were a 10 point favorite and covered the spread, but they posed serious doubts, specially in the scoreless third quarter. They will face #3 Michigan next week and things might get ugly for them.

#6 Houston vs Texas State 64-3

The Cougars a 31 point favorite, easily covered the spread on this game. Houston’s schedule is not hard except for the November game against #3 Louisville.

#7 Stanford vs UCLA 22-13

AP people must have some Stanford fans in there cause keeping the #7 position in the rankings after this lousy way of playing makes you wonder. Linemakers made Stanford a 3 point favorite for the game and though they covered, Stanford did not show as a #7 team. Specially against a non ranked UCLA.

#8 Michigan State vs #11 Wisconsin 6-30

Wisconsin with this win jumps into the top 10 of the AP Poll to #8, and sent the Spartans to the #17 position for week 5. This is the first game we predicted to be a possible upset in our preview last week. The Spartans were a 5 point favorite but this had all the looks of not being correct. And so it was not. The Badgers defense smashed Michigan State and here is the result.

#9 Washington vs Arizona 35-28

Here is the story… The Huskies were a 15 point favorite. Arizona believed they were not. The result: overtime. Yes the Huskies barely got out of Arizona alive on this match. They will face #7 Stanford next week. Washington played better than Stanford did this past weekend. Now since they both played unranked teams and almost lost, both should have been sent to the back of the AP Polls. At least the back of the undefeated. Washington lost a spot and is now ranked #10.

#10 Texas A&M vs #17 Arkansas 45-24

If you know me, you know I hate Aggies, but you have to give them credit. Actually as per Stanford’s and Washington’s performance, they should be ranked #8 and Wisconsin #7. Instead they are ranked #9 for week 5. We predicted this game also as a possible upset, and the Hogs gave them a good fight. They were tied at the half, and fought bravely until the end of the third quarter. The score then was 24-17 Aggies. The Hogs will be ranked #20 for week 5.

#11 Wisconsin played #8 Michigan

#12 Georgia vs #23 Ole Miss 14-45

Yeap we predicted this upset by Ole Miss also. I mean it was logical. The linemakers had made Ole Miss a 7 point favorite. That was a low number. Having seen Ole Miss play Alabama you knew what was coming. They lead the game 45-0 in the 3rd quarter. Ole Miss is now ranked #16 for week 5 AP Top 25 poll. Maybe they should be a little higher. Georgia will rank #25 for week 5.

#13 Florida State vs South Florida 55-35

FSU was a 6 point favorite in this game, and well they covered. They will be ranked #12 for week 5.

#14 Tennessee vs # 19 Florida 38-28

The Vols came as a 6.5 favorite for this game and covered easily. Yeah sure, on the second half of the game. Tennessee is still trying to get into the top 10, but they will face Georgia and A&M these following weekends. Not a good perspective for them. We will see what happens. Tennessee will rank #11 for week 5 and Florida will rank #23.

#15 Miami idle and moved to #14

#16 Baylor vs Oklahoma State 35-24

We actually thought the Cowboys were going to pull an upset here. By the end of the third quarter it looked like they could, trailing 24-28 the 10 point favorite Bears. The Bears covered but they suffered. Baylor will rank #13 for week 5.

#17 Arkansas played #10 A&M

#18 LSU vs Auburn 13-18

Our final upset prediction also came true. LSU lost to Auburn. Probably as controversial finish as the loss (BIG OFFICIALS ERROR) by Oklahoma State. With this loss LSU has been kicked out of the Top 25. You better watch the video…

#19 Florida played #14 Tennessee

#20 Nebraska vs Northwestern 24-13

Nebraska pulled out a win they needed, but with lots of doubts. The first and fourth quarter went scoreless. Go figure. They did cover as 8 point favorite but they do not seem the power of a 4-0 team.

#21 Texas idle drops to #22

#22 San Diego State idle climbs to #19

#23 Ole Miss played #12 Georgia

#24 Utah vs USC 31-27

Utah had to rally in the fourth quarter to win this one. The Utes, a 3 point favorite, covered and will move up to #18 in the AP poll for week 5. We know they are 4-0, but do they deserve the ranking? Watch the game highlights on this video.

#25 Oklahoma idle and kicked out of the Top 25

The new teams that entered the Top 25 AP poll are: TCU at #21 and Boise State at #24
