NCAA Top 25 College Football Week 5 Recap

Our top 25 college football week 5 recap shows that the best bets were on the underdogs this week. Also four teams are out of the top 25 college football rankings as we move to week 6. Various changes in the top teams  in the poll for week 6.

On our week preview we predicted these games were going to be upsets:

#7 Stanford Cardinal vs #10 Washington Huskies
#8 Wisconsin Badgers vs #4 Michigan Wolverines
#18 Utah Utes vs California Golden Bears
#22 Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma State Cowboys

Well we got 3 out of 4 and actually Michigan barely got out of that game alive.

Top 25 College Football Week 5 Results

#1 Alabama vs Kentucky 34-6

We have said before and will say it again, Alabama has not proven to be worthy of the #1 spot. They also AGAIN did not cover. As a 36 favorite for this game, it is the third time this year they fail to do so.

#2 Ohio State vs Rutgers 58-0

This team, yeah the Buckeyes, will end up as #1. They deserve it. Very few to say here.

#3 Louisville vs #5 Clemson 36-42

This game was a thriller all the way to 30 seconds until the end of the game, where Louisville failed to convert in the fourth down from the Clemson 14-yd line. Louisville was stopped short of the first down. Louisville moves to the 7th spot and Clemson to the #3 spot in the Top 25 Ranking for week 6. Check the video.

#4 Michigan vs #8 Wisconsin 14-7

Tight, tight, tight. What a game. Scoreless in the first quarter, tide to seven at the half and during all the 3rd quarter… and probably the best interception this year. Jordan Lewis does a one hand interception you must watch on this video. Wisconsin will drop to #11 in next week’s poll.

#5 Clemson played #3 Louisville

#6 Houston vs Connecticut 42-18

Houston is still solidifying their position. Yes this team should be ranked higher, anyway we do not want to jinx them so we will wait and see how it all turns up.

#7 Stanford vs 10 Washington 6-44

This was one of the four games we predicted to be an upset in our College Football Week 5 Preview. Yes we knew Stanford was overrated, and Washington stripped the mask out of this one. Being sent to the #15 position is better than what we expected.

#8 Wisocnsin played #4 Michigan

#9 Texas A&M vs South Carolina 24-13

The Aggies managed a non impressive win at South Carolina. In fact they were only up 14-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter. in fact the 14 point favorite Aggies did not cover the spread.

#10 Washington played #7 Stanford

#11 Tennessee vs #25 Georgia 34-31

Tennessee barely passed this test, up to the last seconds Hail Mary catch by #15 Jennings in the endzone. Again makes you wonder why Tennessee would go up the rankings to #9 after almost losing.

#12 Florida State vs North Carolina 35-37

Florida State was not as lucky as Tennessee. North Carolina  played an outstanding game, and sent the Seminoles packing to the #23 psot in the rankings for week 6. Here is another video worth watching.

#13 Baylor vs Iowa State 45-42

The Bears had also a close one. The unranked teams really placed some pressure on the top 25 teams on week 5. Baylor a 17 point favorite also did not cover the spread.

#14 Miami vs Georgia Tech 35-21

The Hurricanes covered the 8 point spread and are hanging there, moving to the #10 spot in the rankings.

#15 Nebraska vs Illinois 31-16

The Cornhuskers were 21 point favorites and were unable to cover. Nebraska with a beeter record than other teams still appear at a lower ranking. They do go up to #12 in the nation.

#16 Ole Miss vs Memphis 48-28

Ole Miss continues growing after their tough schedule at the beginning of the season.

#17 Michigan State vs Indiana 21-24

Indiana pulled the shocker. Another unranked team beating the ranked teams. I mean watch the video…

#18 Utah vs California 23-28

As we prognosticated, Utah was going down. Just as we saw Stanford weaknesses, Utah has not proven to be a tough top 25 team. Utah has been sent to the #24 spot, eventhough they should be already out of the top 25.

#19 San Diego State vs South Alabama 24-42

This one we did not predict, and also came as a surprise. As the season ends very few will remain.

#20 Arkansas vs Alcorn State 52-10

As a 52 point favorite Arkansas did not cover, but that was quite a few points in there. Arkansas is heading to stay in the top 25 at season end.

#21 TCU vs Oklahoma 46-52

This game could go either way. This time it went to the Sooners. In fact Oklahoma was a 3 point favorite and besides covering the spread won their first conference game. TCU is out of the top 25, and Oklahoma is back in at #20.

#22 Texas vs Oklahoma State 31-49

We said it. Texas defense sucks. No matter they had two weeks to prepare, they blew it. Texas is out of the top 25.

#23 Florida vs Vanderbilt 13-6

Florida a 10 point favorite in this game did not cover. Nonetheless, their win made them go up in the polls to #18 for week 6.

#24 Boise State vs Utah State 21-10

Boise was a 24 point favorite, but that is all they accounted for in points. They did move up to #19.

#25 Georgia played #11 Tennessee
