Selection Corner – Week 4 NFL Picks

It was a wacky week to pick games in Week 3. But Week 4 promises to yield a nice pay day. Our disappointing week left us at 6-6 for the season. Rather than look back, we can approach this as a fresh start, zero-zero. So let’s go.

2017 Week 4 NFL Picks

Tennessee Titans (-2.5) at Houston Texans

I’m really not sure about this line. Yes, the Titans are a better team this season, keyed by a terrific offensive line and running game. But Houston is no slouch. DeShaun Watson is proving that his learning curve isn’t all that steep. If the defense can rebound at home then we’re talking about found money. Take the Texans and the points. I love home underdogs.

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns

The Browns fought hard in a road loss last week in Indy. But we’re talking about Indy here, folks, not the Patriots. I don’t like the Bengals having to give up points on the road, but they have a revamped offense that’s good enough to put up points on a rebuilding Cleveland team. Marvin Lewis is Dead Man Walking, but he gets one of his last wins here. Lay the points and take Cincy.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5) at Baltimore Ravens

Both teams are 2-1 and are coming off losses. But the Ravens were thoroughly embarrassed. This time they’re at home and playing their fiercest rivals. I can’t for the life of me understand why Pitt is still a football betting darling. They haven’t played one solid game as o yet. Give me the home dog and Baltimore.

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos (-2.5)

The first instinct is to take the Raiders since the point spread is so low and Denver is coming off a bad loss last week. But the Broncos are 2-0 at home and have possibly the best home field advantage in the league. Their defense won’t give up clutch second half plays two weeks in a row. Take Denver and the points.

Last week: 1-3
Season: 6-6
