NFL Regular Season Week 3 Betting Picks

With two weeks in the football betting books, it’s still too early to see the separation between contenders and pretenders. Heck, the 49ers are still tied for first place! Yet, there are patterns that we’ve seen emerge. For instance, the Colts are going to give up a lot of points this season. The Broncos are the same stout defense (even without injured Demarcus Ware), the Giants will be better than most people thought and the Steelers are genuine Super Bowl contenders. I wasn’t exactly on fire with my NFL picks last week, so let’s light the match and get cooking with week 3 betting picks and football bets.

NFL Week 3 Betting Picks

Arizona Cardinals (-4) vs Buffalo Bills

Last week was the beginning of both the end of Rex Ryan and the dominance of the Arizona Cardinals. We expect to see more of the same in this matchup. The Cardinals lost a tough opening matchup versus New England, but they bounced back in a major way last week. Meanwhile, the Bills had a great offensive bounce back last week, but still fired their offensive coordinator. Go figure. It doesn’t take a genius to see the writing on the wall for this game. It doesn’t matter how you shuffle this deck – the Cards will be all good. Take Arizona and lay the points.

Washington Redskins vs New York Giants (-4.5)

While Kirk Cousins was better in the second half last week than he was all of the first week, he still made too many dumb mistakes down the stretch. Meanwhile, every penny that New York spent on defense was on full display last week, as they stymied Drew Brees and the Saints. New York’s offense looks rejuvenated backed by the return of Victor Cruz, while Washington’s attack simply can’t run the ball. I would like to think that this will be a close game because it’s a divisional matchup, but I have my doubts. Bet on the Big Apple and the G-Men to cover.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (-7.5)

Careful, everyone. The Packers lost last Sunday night and had their issues scoring points. The tendency of football betting enthusiasts is to take Aaron Rodgers to bounce back. I’m not so sure. This Packers offense hasn’t been lights out since the 2014 season. Yes, Jordy Nelson is back, but they simply aren’t hitting the big play. Meanwhile, we’re not really sure what happened to the Lions against Tennessee last week. It was a tough loss. Yet, whenever you count out the Lions, they do just enough to keep themselves on the betting radar. Unlike my previous pick, I strongly believe that Matthew Stafford and company will play this game close because it’s a divisional game. Their defense is playing well. So it’s all up to Stafford – and I am buying in on him. Don’t eat the stinky cheese, take the points and roar with the Lions.

San Diego Chargers vs Indianapolis Colts (-3)

Talk about a team that needs a win. The Colts might be the most banged up team in the league. They’ve also lost two games in which they were in until late. Meanwhile, the Chargers bounced back nicely after melting down in the first week. I don’t think San Diego head coach Mike McCoy lasts beyond this season, while Chuck Pagano has a long-term commitment from ownership in Indianapolis. Stability goes a long way and I believe that you have to take the home side here. The Colts will score just enough to cover and win. But make no mistake about it – both of these teams can’t stop anyone from scoring! Saddle up and take the Colts.
