The same is boring. Yet here we are, with a power index that has the same top three as last week and it’s still so exciting! Why? Well, the champs are not in it, the Panthers are rapidly closing in on the top and the Steelers have plummeted. Check it out, football fans.
NFL Week 6 Power Index 2017
1- (1) Kansas City Chiefs – They certainly left no doubt who belongs at the top of the food chain right now. Wow, can they be beaten?
2- (2) Atlanta Falcons – A bye week won’t lower the Falcons on this list. They had a week to lick their wounds and should come out swinging.
3- (3) Green Bay Packers – Is beating Dallas on the road as impressive as it was last year? No, but that’s not Green Bay’s fault. This team is solid right now.
4- (+4) Carolina Panthers – They’re winning shootouts and defensive struggles. This team is getting better and better each week.
5- (+5) Seattle Seahawks – Despite a revolving door of running backs, the Seahawks keep getting better. That defense is special.
6- (-2) Detroit Lions – Matthew Stafford is beat up and the Lions are reeling all of a sudden. A couple of hard luck losses. But they’re still competing hard.
7- (NR) Jacksonville Jaguars – I had them doing well against the Steelers, but I sure didn’t have their defense dominating like that. Now, can they actually win two weeks in a row?
8- (-3) Buffalo Bills – Hmm, the Bengals are improved, but the Bills should have been able to score more. Still, they’re a solid team with credible wins on their record.
9- (-2) Denver Broncos – Denver has got to win a game on the road to really move up this list. The problem? They’ve played only one road game, with the Giants coming to town this Sunday.
10- (NR) Philadelphia Eagles – Imagine, a first round quarterback who has lived up to the hype since Day 1. But don’t sleep on the rest of the team. They are pretty good.
Honorable Mentions: Los Angeles Rams (Valiant effort versus Seattle, but still not ready for primetime), New England Patriots (I know, they are the champs. Well, they’re not playing like it), Pittsburgh Steelers (Big Ben is worrying Steelers fans), Minnesota Vikings (Is this the start of a run for Minny?), Baltimore Ravens (Which Ravens are the real ones?).
