I don’t know even know where to start. Wow. When all three of your top 4 teams from last week’s power index lose, you have to re-evaluate everything. Congrats to the Eagles for taking advantage and jumping a record eight spots. Meanwhile, the Packers fell, and they fell hard. What a crazy week of football that was. But not to worry, we’re ready, willing and able to make sense of it all.
NFL Week 7 Power Index 2017
1- (1) Kansas City Chiefs – No longer undefeated, the Chiefs struggled offensively last week. But they did compete hard towards the end and are relatively healthy. So they stay right here at the top – for now.
2- (10) Philadelphia Eagles – Their only loss is to the top above them on this list. So how do I put them anywhere else but here?
3- (2) Atlanta Falcons – I am going to chalk up the loss to Miami as supreme cockiness. They were up big and went to sleep. Lesson learned.
4- (5) Seattle Seahawks – A bye was enough to raise this team up the board. Yep, it was that kind of week. Seattle is stacked and starting to find their game.
5- (NR) Pittsburgh Steelers – Okay, they’re back and ready to roll. That win in KC was impressive, to say the least. Pittsburgh simply has to be more consistent.
7- (NR) New England Patriots – Welcome back to the list, Patriots. A hard fought win on the road is enough to regain my respect. The come back from behind nature of it was quite impressive.
8- (NR) Los Angeles Rams – That was a strong road effort in all facets for the Rams. They bounced back from the Seattle loss, telling me that they’re mentally tougher than we all thought.
9- (8) Buffalo Bills – It’s not right that a bye week dropped them on the list. But tell me which team ahead of them you would demote. Yeah, I didn’t think so. The Bills are good, I just need to see a little more.
10- (NR) Minnesota Vikings – Sure, they beat an Aaron Rodgers-less team. But they did what they had to do and now have control of the division.
Honorable Mentions: Denver Broncos (What the hell was that on Sunday night?), New York Jets (Sure they’re .500, but they’re playing great right now), Baltimore Ravens (So inconsistent), Tennessee Titans (Well, they are winning games, so I guess we have to include them here, right?), Washington Redskins (That win over the Niners shouldn’t have been that tough).
