NFL Week 8 – Preview and Free Picks

Last Updated on October 25, 2022 4:15 pm by Erwin Noguera

The actions of the National Football League, or as we commonly know it, the NFL, continue in a 2022-23 season that has been full of surprises, with some of the big teams or favorites with many doubts in their games and some teams that nobody bet anything for them, fighting to be at the top of their respective divisions.

Many experts even point out that the NFL has lost its mind this season, as it has been the most unpredictable in many years, with tons of surprises and some totally surprising results.

Without going too far, two of these results have left us frozen: the Panthers’ win over the Buccaneers and the Commanders’ win over the Packers, both in the same week!

Some of the teams that have proven to be a step above the rest have also failed to have the desired level of play and, many, if not most, of them, are with 3-4 records, such as the PackersBuccaneersFalcons, and 49ers.

For now, the Philadelphia Eagles remain undefeated on the season with 6 wins in 6 games played, remembering that they rested in week 7. The NY Giants (6-1) and Dallas Cowboys (5-2) are also playing at a high level this season that, as we all know, is already reaching the halfway point.

The Vikings also continue their good momentum with a 5-1 record. As well as the Bills (5-1), Jets (5-2), and Chiefs (5-2), are these the only teams that have shown consistency in their level of play compared to previous seasons.

Now we face an action-packed Week 8, where each team knows it should win every game to go into the second half of the season with more confidence and with an eye on the postseason.

Now, below, we will have a preview of the best games you can enjoy in this Week 8 of the NFL, with their respective betting odds and free picks.

NFL Week 8 – Preview – Falcons vs. Panthers

When: Sunday, October 30 at noon ET

Moneyline odds: Atlanta Falcons -224 / Carolina Panthers +179 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

One of the games we will enjoy the most this Sunday in the NFL will be, without a doubt, the Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers, which will be at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta, home of the Falcons, at noon ET.

This NFC South game will be the 55th game in history between the Panthers and Falcons, where Atlanta leads the series with a 34-20 record.

The Panthers have won just three of their last 10 games against the Falcons. They last met in Week 14 of the 2021 season, where the Falcons came away with a 29-21 home win over the Panthers.

The Atlanta Falcons have a 3-4 record, yet they are one of the biggest surprises in the NFC. No one expected them to be at the top of the NFC South. They can thank the Carolina Panthers for pulling off the biggest upset of the year, a win over Tampa Bay in Week 7, for keeping them atop the division.

Atlanta was coming into Week 7 of the season with a 6-0 ATS record before getting crushed by the Bengals in this game. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase were a nightmare for the Falcon’s defense, especially after AJ Terrell suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter.

Atlanta took a tough loss in this visit to the Bengals by a score of 35-17.

On the other hand, the Carolina Panthers come into this matchup after pulling off the biggest upset of the season, the aforementioned win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7, by a crushing score of 21-3. Yes, it is true that in this game the Bucs’ mistakes reigned more than the Panthers’ good actions, but a win is a win, and even more so against such a powerful team.

This does not mean that the Panthers will start a winning streak, although in this atypical season anything can happen. Carolina has many offensive problems and this is because they are selling their best players to other teams. Robbie Anderson is in Arizona; Christian McCaffrey is in San Francisco, and I wouldn’t be surprised if DJ Moore is on another team by this Sunday.

PJ Walker completed 16 of 22 for 177 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay, but seven of those completed passes and 69 of the yards went to Moore.

For this game, our winner’s chip is on the Atlanta Falcons and, additionally, we suggest the SPREAD bet on the Falcons at -4.5.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers Betting Pick: Atlanta Falcons

NFL Week 8 – Preview – Steelers vs. Eagles

When: Sunday, October 30 at 01:00 pm ET

Moneyline odds: Philadelphia Eagles -550 / Pittsburgh Steelers +425 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Where Can I Watch it? CBS / ESPN / Fox Sports.

Where Can Stream? NFL Network

What could be the NFL’s Game of the Week 8 due to the lineup that both teams had before the start of the season, will be just another game this week, but, hopefully, we will be treated to a match worthy of two great teams in the league, when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Lincoln Financial Field, at 01:00 pm ET.

These two teams have met 80 times in their history (including 1 postseason game), with the Philadelphia Eagles winning 48 games, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have done the same 29 times while tying on 3 occasions.

In addition to being the only undefeated team in the NFL so far this season, the Philadelphia Eagles come into this game with a bye week after not playing in week 7, so in addition to having home-field advantage and being the best team in the league, they will arrive with all of their players on much-needed rest and with plenty of energy for this game.

The Eagles have shown that their only goal this season is to be the Super Bowl champions. While it is true that there is still a long way to go, they know that the faster they qualify for the postseason, the closer they will be to their goal.

Currently, Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts is a strong candidate to be this season’s MVP, as he has impressive statistics of 1,807 yards and 12 touchdown passes in only 6 games played.

On the other hand, the Pittsburgh Steelers were considered one of the teams that could give a very nice fight in this NFL season, but it has been the opposite. The Steelers come into this game with a terrible record of 2 wins and 5 losses and must travel to Philadelphia to face the best team in the league, so no good winds are blowing around this team this week.

Pittsburgh comes from losing to the Miami Dolphins last Sunday with a score of 10-16. Which puts them in last place in the AFC North.

With that said, our pick for this game is a comfortable win for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Pick: Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Week 8 – Preview – Giants vs. Seahawks

When: Sunday, October 30 at 04:25 pm ET

Moneyline odds: NY Giants +131 / Seattle Seahawks -161 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Where Can I Watch it? CBS / ESPN / Fox Sports

Where Can Stream? NFL Network

Two of the NFL’s most surprising teams face off this weekend, and the Seahawks are favored by just under a field goal. While the team of Geno Smith has certainly been a good story, we will have to wait and see if they have what it takes to beat a NY Giants who have only been favored in two games this season and come into this week 8 with a spectacular 6-1 record.

This game between Giants and Seahawks will be this Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Lumen Field, home of the Seahawks at 04:25 pm ET.

The historical series between these two teams shows an almost absolute parity, as the New York Giants have won 10 of the 19 games they have faced each other, while the Seattle Seahawks have won 9 times.

The Giants, who soundly outplayed the Jaguars last weekend, after being the underdogs again in this game, is perhaps the most surprising team in the NFL with their 6-1 record. NY stopped Jacksonville at the goal line as time expired to get the big win with a score of 23-17.

As we mentioned, the Giants have only been favored in two games this season, where they have a 1-1 record, that is, they are undefeated in all the games they have played and are the underdogs to win.

On the other hand, this is only the second time the Seahawks have been the favorite in a game. However, it has been fun to watch them this season who, with a record of 4 wins and 3 losses, are leading the NFC West over teams like the Cardinals, Rams, and 49ers.

Like the Giants, Seattle was projected to be among the worst teams in the league this season. But, with the excellent performance of quarterback Geno Smith this early season, they are now one of the teams to beat in the NFC.

That said, and, despite all signs pointing to a Seattle win, our pick will be the NY Giants and, additionally, we suggest taking the SPREAD on the Giants at +3.

NY Giants vs. Seattle Seahawks Betting Pick: NY Giants
